My Story

After getting my BA in English at Western University in 2019, I realized I wanted to take my career in a different direction.

This wasn’t the first time I had rerouted my career; I was initially enrolled at Western in the Classical Music Program as a Vocalist, and before that I had an invested interest in visual art and the sciences.

I knew that I wanted to do something more creative as a career and also make use of my other interests and used that as my guiding principal in my decisions from there.

Another left turn from my goal and I somehow ended up working in the medical field as an administrator for the past three years, working with family doctors, nurse practitioners, and orthopedic surgeons.

Though the work I have done is by no means creative, it is detail oriented and has shown me ways of applying my writing skills with more expository and technical writing that I otherwise may not have explored.

I have developed entire department procedure manuals and written documents for both staff training purposes and patient use, finding ways to sneak in some creativity in terms of layout while also getting the messaging across.

Going back to school to specialize my skills became a no brainer if I wanted a change. Marketing has been something that has interested me from day one, I just never understood what my place in it could be.

Going back to school and learning about how to further develop my writing skills, and learn more about translating my education to a marketing perspective helped me to realize my true passion advertising and marketing.

It combines all of the things that I enjoy and that I find exciting about the world around me.

Though it is just the beginning of this career for me, I know I found the right path this time, and I’m headed in the right direction.

Interests

Environmentalism

Nature and specifically botany and mycology are of interest to me and often find themselves at the center of much of my personal work. Growing up close to nature has given me a deep appreciation and reverence for the natural world which compels me to advocate.

History

I love learning about the past because of its influence on the present and the future. I love vintage styles of everyday items and appreciate the classic mid-century design styles of iconic marketing campaigns.

Story telling

Whether it be anecdotal, written lore, or visual, a good story and narrative is a powerful thing that has connected groups of people for thousands of years. It still remains to be a powerful element in marketing today.
